Architectural Design 1/ Architectural Computer Graphics AET 111 (Trident Tech Dual Enrollment)
The course advances the study of the processes involved in the creation and understanding of architecture. The course focuses on the application of architectural form and spatial organizations through a series of design projects. It investigates space and form as a language and construct through the design of projects and analysis of architecture. The course is structured around design projects executed in studio, history and project research, field trips and guest visits, and the development of architectural graphics both by hand and by computer tools. This course includes architectural construction, basic computer-aided design commands and the creation of industry symbols and standards. Building Information Modeling will be conducted using the latest version of Autodesk Revit software and 3D modeling including SketchUp.
Students will be taught in a studio environment, through an iterative design process and exchange ideas and feedback with peers and instructors. There is a natural progression to the projects in the course; projects and assignments build upon one another.
Students will maintain a sketchbook of ideas, a notebook of assignments, and an ongoing digital portfolio of work.
